A finalised route

I finished what should be the final draft of my route this evening. I'll be cycling 60-70 miles a day most of the time.

I've been trying for some time to come up with a good distance to aim for each day, given that I haven't any experience of a long cycle trip, but I think that by leaving early-ish in the morning and allowing for the light evenings this distance should be easily obtainable.

With only a two week window during my summer holidays to complete the trips, I'll be in trouble if it turns out that it's not, but I have a couple of days planned spare at the end of the trip incase of unforeseen events. Hopefully the worst thing that will happen will be going back into work with a sore backside on the following Monday.

I settled on a rough route some weeks ago, but after making a few amendments and looking for campsites along the way, I've come up with the following trip leaving on Sunday the 19th of July:

Day 1: Congleton to Morecambe (about 80 miles) - Map
Day 2: Morecambe to Cockermouth (about 62 miles) - Map
Day 3: Cockermouth to Southerness (about 76 miles) - Map
Day 4: Southerness to Girvan (about 73 miles) - Map
Day 5: Girvan to Wemyss Bay (about 56 miles) then ferry across to Rothesay on the Isle of Bute - Map
Day 6: Rothesay to Arrochar (about 49 miles, including short ferry crossing from Rhubodach back to Colintraive on the mainland) - Map
Day 7: Arrochar to Dunning (about 69 miles) - Map
Day 8: Dunning to North Berwick (about 64 miles, including a stop in Edinburgh) - Map
Day 9: North Berwick to Lindisfarne (about 47 miles) - Map
Day 10: Lindisfarne to Durham (about 77 miles) - Map
Day 11: Durham to York (about 69 miles) - Map
Day 12: York to Matlock (about 62 miles) - Map
Day 13: Matlock back to home in Congleton :) - a nice short ride of 29 miles to finish off - Map

I'm getting pretty excited about this right now, no doubt that excitement is going to turn to trepidation as the summer approaches.
